Newspaper clipping from unidentified newspaper with title "Negroes On Arkansas Jury Panel Make Legal History In Dixie." In Pine Bluff, Jefferson County, Arkansas, the first jury of African Americans were called to Jury Duty in Jefferson County in more than 50 years in 1947. The African American professional and businessmen were called by Circuit Judge T.G. Parham at the request of defense attorney, W. Harold Flowers (pictured in center of article). A racially mixed panel was chosen to try Willie Wilkerson, 31, and his brother, Albert, 19, in the murder of two white men. The defendants were found guilty of lesser crimes. Of the 13 African Americans in the jury pool, three became part of the jury. The African American men called for jury duty are pictured: first row (from left to right) Ivey Anderson, A.B. Bedford, J.C. Kahn, Malvin E. Moore Sr., U.S. Brown, E.D. Peebles; second row David Davis, R.N. Chanay, L.A. Davis, Fayette Roberts, A.A. Mazique, and C.F. Colemen.
